What are Lesson Exemplars (LE)

Modern education values clear assessment criteria to measure student performance fairly. Lesson exemplars are models of best practices, showing high-quality work that helps students meet established standards. These exemplars serve as patterns to follow and often include work from previous students. While similar to model answers, exemplars specifically highlight the skills and content needed for future assessments.

Guidelines for Developing Learning Activity Sheets (LAS)

Purpose and Preparation

To ensure that regional efforts align with central office standards for quality learning resources, the central office (CO) sets guidelines for creating Learning Activity Sheets (LAS) that support modular distance learning. Teachers, with input from division learning area supervisors and school heads, prepare LAS according to these guidelines. This approach helps teachers choose activities that best suit their students, reduces printing costs, and minimizes risks of copyright issues.

Components of LAS

I – Introductory Concept (Panimulang Konsepto)
This section gives an overview of the main concepts to be learned and introduces the activities students will undertake. It aims to motivate students to engage with the tasks.

II – Activities (Mga Gawain)

  • This part details various activities designed to deepen students’ understanding of a skill or concept. Activities may include paper-and-pencil tasks, games, creative projects (like drawing or songwriting), research, blogs, or vlogs—anything that is suitable and feasible. The goal is to engage students’ senses to enhance learning.
  • Teachers decide how many activities to include. Directions for each activity should be simple and clear so students and their home learning partners can easily understand them.
  • Students might need to refer to textbooks, workbooks, or other learning materials for some activities.

III – Rubric for Scoring (Rubrik sa Pagpupuntos)
If needed, a rubric will help evaluate performance, products, or projects related to the tasks.

IV – Answer Key (Susi sa Pagwasto)
Provides the correct answers for checking student work.

V – References (Sanggunian)
Lists the sources used to create the LAS.
