2nd Quarter Grade 7 Lesson Exemplars (LE) and Learning Activity Sheets (LAS)

Lesson Exemplars (LE)

Lesson exemplars are valuable tools in education because they can be adapted to different teaching environments and student needs. Teachers can modify these frameworks to fit the unique characteristics of their classrooms. For example, an exemplar for a general class may require changes for students with special needs or English language learners. Teachers can adjust the difficulty of activities or include extra support materials.

These exemplars also allow for flexible pacing by enabling teachers to focus more on challenging topics. Teachers can incorporate local culture or examples to make lessons more relatable and engaging. By adding technology or interactive tools, teachers can further enhance student involvement. Despite being time-consuming to create, lesson exemplars offer clear assessment criteria and help close learning gaps. They are particularly effective in explaining complex concepts, improving understanding and boosting student performance. When used thoughtfully, lesson exemplars can significantly enhance both teaching and learning across various subjects.

Learning Activity Sheets (LAS)

Effective Learning Activity Sheets (LAS) require thoughtful planning and alignment with educational goals. Teachers should first decide which skills or concepts students need to master. Activities on the sheet should reinforce these skills in an engaging manner. Clear, simple instructions help students follow the tasks without confusion. Including examples or visuals aids understanding.

A good LAS includes a variety of tasks with different difficulty levels to challenge students. Self-check sections or answer keys can boost confidence by allowing students to assess their progress. The format should be visually appealing and easy to navigate. Teachers can improve future LAS by gathering feedback from students.

According to DepEd Order No. 18 series of 2020, LAS play an essential role in the Basic Education – Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP) and Self-Learning Modules (SLMs). They support both students and teachers by making learning more interactive and enjoyable. LAS help students understand and remember lessons while giving teachers a tool to evaluate and adjust their teaching.

When creating LAS, focus on engaging students, aligning with educational goals and using the right tools to meet their needs.
