Lesson Planning

The term “lesson” is generally understood to refer to a cohesive group of activities that take place over a specified amount of classroom time. These classroom time components are important from an administrative perspective for teachers since they represent curriculum steps before and after which teachers take a break to reflect and get ready for the following session. Those lessons are real, observable units of work that serve to provide a course of study a rhythm from the perspective of teachers and students managing their time.

A lesson, then, is not a plan to be blindly followed, but rather a proposal for action. And after the teachers put their plan into action, all kinds of things might occur, many of which we could not have predicted.

Teachers need a plan to guide them through the terrain at first. Think of it as a mental map. Furthermore, kids are curious about what their teachers have in store for them. Their trust in the teacher is increased by showing signs of preparation.

Much of the preparation process might be lost once teachers start to write their lesson ideas down. Although teachers are instructed in educational institutions to utilize linearly produced plans, many educators do not adhere to this approach and do not record the steps they took to organize their lessons.

The intricacy of thought that goes into lesson preparation might be overlooked by conventional plans, which presume that the process is an ends relationship. Alternative plans frequently take on a more organic form when a teacher tries to capture the steps they took during the lesson planning process on paper.

The lesson planning process that teachers go through is essential to the achievement of their students, regardless of how they write their plans on paper. To encourage student achievement, teachers must be effective both when they are teaching and when they are planning lessons.
